Sixth grade social studies students recently completed a quarter-long research project covering the 5 Themes of Geography related to a country of their choice. Their final product was a presentation board displayed during our “Geography Fair.” Students shared their research using a gallery walk, which allows students to move around the room to get information. The movement is an obvious benefit of the gallery walk, but it also promotes higher order thinking skills like analysis and evaluation. Students are reassured that their voices are valued as they share with their peers. Boards were on display during conference times and will be coming home soon.
